Before the colossi came, he was a name barely spoken: a scarred wanderer among the whispering trees of Darkwood Grove, half-forgotten by the shrines and sky. But when the first of the Celestial Tide tore low through the firmament — when roots bled and beasts howled to stars that answered only with fire — Falco Krillian stood.
Born of no noble house, no archived project, Falco was raised by a line of forest stewards who listened to the old echoes. From a young age, he wandered the glades with a silence that made wolves kneel. He understood the low growl of sap-hunger, the tremor of antler-thought. By the time he was ten, bears hibernated beside his hut. By twelve, he had called a hawk back from the brink of death. When he came of age, the Order of Solaris marked his presence — but could not claim him.
His body bore the forest’s brand: black hair streaked with windsilver, brown eyes deep as rootlight, flesh torn and remade by storms. When a landslide took his family, Falco clawed free not by rage, but by calling the moles and crows to dig him out. When he was hunted by Warlord patrols for shielding forest outlaws, he did not flee — he healed their broken men and let them return changed.
It was in the blood-dew dawn of 2177, when the sky cracked and the first of the Rift-born titans breached low orbit, that his calling fully awakened. The Aetherelite found him already joined to the weave of life, already bonded to a thousand unspoken contracts with claw, fur, feather, and fang. There was no question, no ceremony. The Aether whispered: He is already Mage.
His transformation was not divine — it was feral and luminous. Regeneration turned bone to bark, veins to root-thread. Energy flared from his hands like solar howl, pulsing in bursts to shield dying herds and shatter exoskeletal horrors. But his greatest gift remained his bond: from the smallest vole to the last thunder-elk of the high forest, creatures heard his call and answered.
To the refugees, he was Protector — the one who stood when barricades fell.
To the wounded, he was Redeemer — who fed the last honey to a dying child and called bees from frost to fill the air with warmth.
But to zealots and dominators, he was Terror — a man with no crown who made armies retreat with a whisper to the trees.
And yet… he bore the seed of darkness too. In his solitude, he dreamt of a world without humans — a restored Eden purged of fire and iron. The beast within him did not crave vengeance, but silence. Had he fallen deeper, he might have become a fanatic of balance, a godling of extinction.
But each time the edge approached, a voice pulled him back — a child’s cry, a wounded cub’s breath, the weight of a sparrow on his shoulder reminding him the world did not need cleansing. It needed guarding.
In the records of the Celestial Tide, it is said that one man — wrapped in animal song and forest fire — held the line where gods fled. That his scream shattered comets. That when the last titan fell, he vanished into the Grove, his oath fulfilled.
Falco Krillian, the Justice-Bearer, became not a statue or a relic, but a legend passed from fang to feather — the Mage who never ruled, but made the world safe enough for others to live.
