In a realm where even the dead have stories yet to finish, Nekrus walks with a mind sharpened by time and a soul scorched by betrayal. Known throughout cursed sanctums and ruined observatories as the Hand of the Rift, Nekrus is a human necromancer whose very presence bends memory, muscle, and chronology to his will.
He was born in the post-quarantine ruins of Solrath Sanctum, where cultists once worshipped the fractures in time itself. Orphaned by temporal rifts that erased his parents from the timeline, Nekrus grew up haunted by their echoes — remnants of conversations that never happened, lullabies that ended before they began. His obsession with controlling death and time was born not from ambition, but from desperation.
By the time he reached adulthood, Nekrus had mastered telekinesis, could sift through the thoughts of both the living and dead, and had begun experimenting with the forbidden art of temporal bleeding — folding seconds and hours at will. He doesn’t just command skeletons. He calls back moments — frozen arguments, fractured choices, ghosts of decisions not made.
He seeks freedom — not just for himself, but for reality itself, which he sees as unjustly caged by linear existence. He longs for knowledge, chases growth, and holds to an ancient ideal of transformation through awareness. But this noble quest is poisoned by pride, the deep-seated wrath of his abandonment, and an all-consuming obsession with becoming the one force no god, no mage, no system can erase.
Nekrus has been both mentor and executioner. His insight allows him to spot weakness in people and events alike. His resilience is legend — he has survived chronobursts, psychic implosions, and even his own failed attempt to loop a dying friend’s final hour.
He trusts no one.
Once, he led a faction called the Ash Thread, dedicated to liberating time-warped souls from Rift corruption. But betrayal by a lover who sold their research to the Voidkind shattered his ability to rely on anyone else. Since then, he’s wandered the Deadglass Canyons, confronting temporal parasites and seeking relics that might let him unravel the Rootclock, a mythical construct believed to regulate all time across dimensions.
To some, he is a hero of the unseen wars. To others, a ticking bomb — a man who could destroy the last remnants of order in his pursuit of ultimate freedom. The Mages of the Obsidian Spiral watch him with wary admiration. The dimensionwalkers fear him, but cannot look away.
When the Reckoning arrives, Nekrus will not ask what time it is — he will decide.
