Before humanity’s first word was spoken, before the pyramids cast shadows across the desert, Enki walked the red sands of Mars. He was not divine — but to those who looked upon him, his mastery over life itself was indistinguishable from godhood. His people, an advanced bioengineering civilization, sought to shape and control the lesser worlds, seeding them with lifeforms to fit their vision.

Mars had been his masterpiece — until war, arrogance, and the arrival of something from beyond destroyed it. Enki, in a desperate act of preservation, ended the Martian civilization and moved the surviving genetic stock to Earth, refining them into what we now know as humanity.

But he knew the dangers that had consumed Mars could find their way here. So he created the Rift — a prison, a barrier in the folds of reality, locking away the entities, knowledge, and weapons that had doomed his first creation. His single law to the new humanity was simple: Never open the Rift.

The Present
For millennia, Enki was gone — the myth of his name passed down in distorted fragments by Sumerian priests, Babylonian kings, and the earliest storytellers. But the Rift has been opened. In Earth: 2250’s collapsing world, desperate humans, corporations, and rogue powers have unleashed the very chaos he sealed away.

Now, Enki has returned — not as the benevolent god humanity imagined, but as the furious engineer reclaiming control over a failed project. In his eyes, humanity has committed the ultimate sin: breaking the one law that kept them safe. To him, the solution is clear — purge the flawed species, close the Rift, and begin again.
