He was born of breath, not blood — a current given voice. Zephyr, known to the coastal enclaves as the Tide Unleashed, rose from the whispering water-mirrors of the Kharazan Delta after the Veil thinned and the world began remembering how to speak to its old children. He was not summoned. He emerged — carried on the scent of salt and sky, bonded to no master, claimed by no clan. Yet from his first footfall, the rivers curved around him with familiarity, as if he had returned from an exile no one recalled imposing.

As a Djinn, Zephyr embodies both fluidity and precision — not a being of fire or chaos, but of flowing truth and ancient riddles. He speaks rarely, for each word is an agreement. But when he does, the world moves. Unlike his kin who twist oaths for sport, Zephyr honors the spirit behind the vow, and in doing so has become an anomaly even among his own: a Djinn of trust, not temptation.

His calling as a Hydromancer is not wielded like a weapon, but honored like a lineage. He does not command water. He remembers it. The memory of rain on lost gardens, the rage of rivers dammed too long, the slow mourning of glaciers — he channels it all through careful movement, shaped by compassion as much as by power. His healing is never passive. It is restoration born of reckoning. He believes nothing should be mended that does not first choose to be whole.

Bound to him by mutual respect is a creature known only as Rhavax — a sleek river-beast, part feline, part serpentine, whose gill-frilled body coils through both earth and surf. They do not battle with coordination. They move with symbiosis, guided not by command, but communion. Those who have watched them fight claim the beast snarls seconds before Zephyr moves, and the storm follows.

But Zephyr is not serene. His flaw lies in overthought, in the silent spirals of what could be broken next, or worse — what he might fail to protect. His love for the wild, for others, for growth itself, is so profound that it risks turning inward as anxiety, paralysis, or despair. He has walked away from friendships rather than risk harming them. He has doubted every major choice, yet made each one with unmistakable clarity. And when cornered — when the tide within him turns — he is terrifying. Because a Djinn of peace, when provoked beyond reason, does not raise their voice.

They raise the ocean.

Those who know his name, whether whispered by dryads or etched into the walls of Rift-fallen cities, speak it not with reverence, but with relief. For when Zephyr comes, healing will follow — and so will the flood.

And when the storm recedes, and silence returns to the land, only the sound of his companion’s breath and the retreating waters remain — and perhaps a single, quiet promise spoken into wind:

“Balance does not mean peace. It means return.”
